Mountain of Knives Studio
The Mountain of Knives is an American independent animation studio specializing in grindhouse style micro animation and comics. The St. Louis, Missouri based studio mixes chanbara, chopsocky, splatter, and wuxia themes into ultraviolent collages of death. Chanbaragogo unapologetically syncs up genres, cultures, and mythology into something new, yet familiar, drenched in copious amounts of blood.
Animator Chris Sagovac founded the Mountain of Knives in the summer of 2016 along with a small group of outlaw cel-swords to create original content right here in the United States. Chanbaragogo links mini comics to animated content via QR code. This enables you to watch the animated action sequences using your mobile device after reading the stories in print. Or you can just kick around the site watching the carnage if binge watching pure action is your thing.
“When one has no form, one can be all forms; when one has no style, he can fit in with any style.”
We are always looking for new cel-swords to join the Mountain of Knives.

Hell 99 follows the separate stories of 99 assassins. Each negotiate a variety of terms to perish from their mortal existence and descend into the many hells to seek out a target so big that it may unravel reality as we know it. Before such quests can be undertaken, each must drink a potion brewed of the blackest magic to immunize the assassins against Meng Po’s tea of forgetfulness.
Hell 99 is an experiment in amorphous and trans-media storytelling. You can read or watch pieces of the story in any order. Each story leaves unanswered questions that entwine each assassin within a greater epic. Follow stories individually or assemble the puzzle.
Read the story, watch the action!
